PM Kisan is a Central Government Scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India. It is to provide income support to all landholding farmers’ in the country to supplement their financial needs for procuring various inputs related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.
Under the scheme income support of 6,000/- per year in three equal intervals will be provided to small and marginal farmer families having combined landholding/ownership of up to 2 hectares of land. The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
All land holding farmer families are eligible for this scheme. There are various Exclusion Categories for the scheme.
The following categories of beneficiaries of higher economic status shall not be eligible for benefit under the scheme.
- All Institutional Landholders.
- Farmer families belong to one or more of the following categories:
i) Former and present holders of constitutional posts
ii) Former and present Ministers/ State Ministers and former/present Members of LokSabha/ RajyaSabha/ State Legislative Assemblies/ State Legislative Councils, former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, former and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
iii) All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/ State Government Ministries /Offices/Departments and its field units Central or State PSEs and Attached offices /Autonomous Institutions under Government as well as regular employees of the Local Bodies
(Excluding Multi Tasking Staff /Class IV/Group D employees)
vi)All superannuated/retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs.10,000/-or more
(Excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees) of above category
v) All Persons who paid Income Tax in last assessment year
vi) Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects registered with Professional bodies and carrying out the profession by undertaking practices.
How to apply
All land holding farmer families are eligible for this scheme. The eligible farmers can make their application with the revenue officials or other designated officers/agencies with the required details.
Farmers can make registration by using the nearest Common Service Centres (CSCs).
Farmers can also do their self-registration through the Farmers Corner in the PM KISAN portal.
Details required for registration include:
- Aadhaar Number
- Bank Account Number
- Mobile Number of the beneficiaries.
- In case Aadhaar number has not been issued then Aadhaar Enrollment Number together with any other prescribed documents for purposes of the identification such as Driving Licence, Voters’ ID Card, NREGA Job Card, or any other identification documents issued by Central/State/UT Governments or their authorities, etc.
