Types of Kerala Ration Card

The state government of Kerala provides mainly three types of ration cards to their citizens, they are:

Antyodaya Anna Yojana Cards

The Antyodaya Anna Yojana card is given to those who belong to the weaker section of the society. Under this scheme, the applicant’s family will receive around 35kg of necessary commodities that includes wheat or rice at free of cost.

Priority Cards

The Priority cards are given to those people who are below the poverty line.  The ration cardholder and family members will get the free grain of 5kg, which further includes wheat of 1kg and rice of 4kg.

Non-Priority Cards

The Non-Priority cards will be given to those people who are above the poverty line. The ration cardholder and family members will get the essential commodity that includes 2kg of rice.

Before applying for a Kerala ration card, make sure you have all the essential documents with you, which must be submitted along with the filled application form.

How to Apply for a Kerala Ration Card

The applicants can apply for a Kerala ration card by both online and offline methods. If the applicant doesn’t have an internet facility then he/she can apply through offline methods like Akshaya Centre or TSO and DSO centre present in the state. Apart from this, applicants can also apply online for the ration card through the official website of the Civil Department of Kerala.

Applying for a Kerala Ration Card from the Akshaya Centre

If you’re applying for a ration card through the Akshaya Centre, then do follow the steps given below,

  • Visit the nearest Akshaya Centre.
  • Take the application form from the centre, fill it and submit it along with all the essential documents required for verification.
  • If the applicant has an old Kerala ration card with you, then it also needs to be submitted along with the application form.
  • The application form and documents will be checked by the centre authorities and then a digital photograph of the applicant will be taken.
  • After that, the applicant is required to pay the ration card application fee, along with some other applicable charges.

Applying for a Kerala Ration Card from the nearest TSO or DSO Centre

If you’re applying for a ration card through the TSO or DSO Centre, then do follow the steps given below,

  • Visit the TSO or DSO office in the nearest area.
  • The applicant can apply for a new ration card by paying the application fee to the officer present there.
  • The application form must be filled by the applicant only and then submitted to the officer with all the essential documents.
  • Once the documents get verified, the ration card will be sent to the applicant’s official address. The maximum time required for a new ration card is up to 15 days.

Applying for a Kerala Ration Card through Online

If you’re applying for a ration card through online process, then do follow the steps given below,

  • Visit the official website of the Civil Department.
  • Click on the ‘New Ration Card’ option then a new web page will display on the screen.
  • Carefully fill the ration card application form with valid details and click on the submit option.
  • Click on the activation link and then log in to the website with a login ID and password.
  • In the case of the fresh ration card application, three option will display on the screen,
  • Issue of fresh ration card
  • Non-inclusion
  • Non-renewal certificate
  • Click on the desired option and then upload the necessary documents in PDF format.
  • After this, verify the details and print out the application form for future reference.
  • Lastly, submit the application form to the TSO centre along with the necessary documents.

Application Procedure to Renew Kerala Ration Card

If you want to renew your ration card, then follow these steps,

  • Go to the service option and select ‘Ration Card Renewal’ from the drop-down.
  • Now click on ‘Proforma for Submitting Claims and Objections’ and download the form.
  • Fill in all the valid details and submit them to your nearest office.
